Bottle.Yellow with a small head.Slightly cardboard like flavour. A bit tinny and left no lacing. This is what gives lager a bad name. To be avoided.

Good head and condition, malty nose with low level of hop aroma. Hops in the mouth becoming slightly ironlike towards the end , and a hop bitter finish with a strange aftertaste.

Bright gold and a bit flat looking. Aromas are grain with zesty lemon. Flavours are citrus, grain and quite crisp. Some soft malts, too. A pretty dry finish - quite a decent lager.

Keg at the Globe Inn, Hythe, Kent. Straw colour with a thin ring of white head, but highly carbonated with big bubbles; a fresh aroma of grassy hops; crisp with sweetish malt flavours balanced by a sharp bitterness, quite prickly mouth feel. In the end the sweetness wins over the bitterness leaving an unsatisfactory finish. It’s hard to place the style, it’s similar to Stella in some ways, and 1664 in others. Not a bad lager, but I would not go out of my way to find it.

Shep’s bottle. Gold colour. Quite a foxy malt aroma. Taste has some malt, biscuit and a pleasant citric tang. Not very bitter, but it has a bit more character than most pale lagers.

[Draught, London] A quite nice lager. Very malty aroma and flavour. Some bitterness in the finish.
