Bottled (as Pikkulintu Barley Wine 2005), Pikkulintu, Helsinki. 2 bottles, as the first one had some kind of infectionlike notes. Brownish amber colour, not much head. Aroma is earth, caramel, alcohol with some Madeiralike notes. Flavour is caramel, some alcohol, raisins and mild berryish notes. After rating IIended up blending the "strange one" and the "normal one" which also quite surprisingly resulted in a quite nice thing.

No head, hazy brown color. Sour, lambic-type aroma. Raisins and cellar. Extremely sweet flavor with lots of raisins. Damn smooth palate. Pleasant stuff.

(Bottle, as Pikkulintu Barley Wine 2005, on 2008-05-01) Amber colour. Almost clear. Not much head. Malty and bit sour nose. Full palate. Taste is very close to raisins. Sweetness. In aftertaste, hints of sourness.

Bottle. Hazy amber coloured with a small tan head. Malty with notes of caramel, dried fruits and vanilla. Nice and clear but also a bit too mild and dull.

(Bottle 25 cl) Courtesy of Bierkönig. Vintage 2005. Clear, dark, amber golden with no head whatsoever - looks like a vintage cognac. Fat aroma of caramel, overripe fruit and alcohol. Very full-bodied with hardly any carbonation. Plenty of sweet caramel, overripe fruit and vanilla accents. Almost no bitterness, but a warming alcohol in the finish. A decent British style Barley wine. 120108

Huvila Barely Wine 2005 Bottle. Courtesy of Jeppe [Amager – Mikkeller Brew session @ Amager Bryghus] Small fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Spare lacework. Clear amber – brown colour. Aroma of bread, alcohol, grain, wood like feel, raisin, date and mix of dried fruit. Medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderated sweet flavour with light bitterness. Lingering sweet dried fruity finish. Quit nice, and as MPA says: properly top 5 Finland Barely Wine….. he he
