Commercial Description:
This beer is brewed for thirsty people by thirsty people. Created during the dog days of summer in 2004, the popularity of this ale was so overwhelming that we decided to make it a permanent member of the Hyland’s product line rather than a seasonal brew. Farmhand Ale is a pale to golden colored, light bodied and crisp extra pale ale. It is brewed with European pilsner type malt to provide the light color and just enough body, and finish it with cascade hops for a crisp yet not bitter, refreshing beer experience. Alcohol: 4.0% by volume.

’06 GABF RB tasting I remember this was such a welcome change of pace from the bourbon barrel beer and the impy stouts. Cloudy gold color. Apricot, yeast, vanilla, some tartness.

Beer pours golden in color. There are light notes of citrus from the hops and you see a hit of malt accross the nose and the palate. Overall a great beer.

pours a slightly hazy pale gold with a fluffy white head that retains well and leaves nice lace. light nose matches some floral/citric notes up with a bit of crisp/cracker malt aroma. straightforward taste of light malts and light American hops, with a drying bitterness to finish. a well-done quencher for a hot day.

This beer is incredibly well carbonated, with a very careful pour I still manage to get a six-finger thick, pale, white colored head. The head is fairly large bubbled, as it recedes it forms a rocky, varied surface. The beer is brilliantly clear, with a bright, lightly straw colored body. A touch spicy, with a grassy, green herbal note as well as some lemon peel aromatics. The nose on this beer is quite dry and enticing.

Fairly tart tasting, but there is also a biting carbonation, which couples with a light hop bitterness. This beer finishes with a herbal, astringent finish as well as a continuation of the tart flavor. Very light on the tongue, this beer defines a light quaffable, summer beer quite well.

This is quite a bit tastier than I was expecting, it really captures the character of a farmhouse Saison quite well. This is quite a tasty brew, I am really quite pleased to have a chance to drink this beer.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with ppoitras (thanks!). Poured a light yellow / straw color with a larger sized white head. I couldn’t place the intial aroma I was getting, but it came to me - spearmint gum. Other aromas of mint, spices, grass, citrus and corn. Interesting. Tastes of mint leaves, citrus, grass and grain. Minty finish. How many times have I mentioned mint and where am I getting that from? Thinner body.

Pours an extremely clear gold with a large, lasting white head. The aroma is surprisingly hoppy. It actually smells like it was dry hopped. Good, firm straw malt with more of that surprising bitterness. Better than expected.

bottle, from Brewery store. Ok nose, sweet. Powdered ice tea, earthy, grass, hay, bread. Clean orangy gold color. Would of been a big head, but I caught it early and poured fairly slow after that. It was still a big head in the scheme of things. Bitter flavor, like aroma, but I don’t like something in the flavor, sourdough, a lite nuttiness, sourdough, grass. Grainy. Hmm what is it? Medium body, lite creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. I liked the aroma because it had a nice sweet scent that didn’t show up in the flavor.
