Colur. Red!
Flavor sour cherries, cholcolate, carmel CanIHave4Beers (835), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Oct 12, 2009 Pours a nice ruby color with a small espresso swirl. The aroma is tart and musty while mildly fruity. The flavor is winey and mildly sour with some cranberry, nice but a little off. JK (2946), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Oct 1, 2009 The description sounds awesome, but this beer just isn’t very good. Some oak and malt, with a little sugar, but more of a dry-oak flavor than anything else. What flavor there is, is very light. Thin palate. Disappointing. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Aug 11, 2009 Bottle at jens, brought back from belgium ... brown ... sweet woody toffee nose... caramel toffee ... not realy a sour ale at all ... little cherry Avengedpoet (325), Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 6, 2009 Bottle share thanks to rustychiles. Pours a deep red/brown. Aroma is mild sourness, oak, cherries, and chocolate. Taste is lots of chocolate, cherries, and extremely mild oak/sour tang. This is not what I would consider an oud bruin. Much more like a very traditional old ale with the brett touch. Very tasty, just not really to style in my opinion. Quite unexpected. rustychiles (1007), Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 6, 2009 Bottle courtesy of Tytoanderso.
Pours a reddish brown with a light brown head. Aroma is subtle oak, cherries, touch of funk, some sweetness. Flavor is cherry, oak, yeasts, funk, a very light sourness melds with sweet candi sugars. Drinks way too easy. Good brew, but not what I expected at all. FlssmrBrewAlum (1079), Lisle, Illinois, USA May 18, 2009 12 oz bottle courtesy of an extra from Beerlando. Thanks, as always, Bryan. Pours a rusty hue, dark but still able to see through, some floaties, with big brownish red head that cakes, laces some, is pretty nice. Aromas push some subtle oak, sour cherries, a touch of caramel, and a touch of funk. Fruity and sweet, but also tart. Initial is light and quencing off the bat, light sour cherries, sweet malts, and oaky dryness combine. The flavors in this beer are light, preaching a little more sweetness in body, with a little tartness coming out on the backend and in the finish. A touch of dryness, under carbonated. A bit too smooth, even creamy, for a beer I want in this style. Sour with some big training wheels. A little bland, boring. KyotoLefty (1371), Kyoto, Japan May 16, 2009 Dark brown with a medium but sturdy head. Sweetish aroma with chocolate, caramel, dark fruits, and a little something sour and funky underneath. Rich malts for sure, no hop presence. Flavor is sweet, malty and rich, with some cherries and other dark fruits. It is slightly sour, but just a touch, not quite enough for the style. Very little hopping, but also not too cloying. A touch of chocolate, a bit of caramel, and lots of fruit. Interesting. Finish is sweet-and-sour and fruity. Decent stuff, though too sweet.
