Commercial Description:
Old sour beer is blended with sweet young beer before bottling to create a beer with a sour nose, sweet taste, and a slight sour aftertaste. Ichtegem’s goes great with shrimp or can also be used to marinate various kinds of meat in.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown with a tan thin head. The aroma is musty old fruit very pungent to the nose. Taste is very balanced as it starts out sweet fruit; however transitions into a sourness in the finish.

750ml bottle thanks for the trade Tyler. Pours dark brown with a tan ring. Nose is light sour with a bit of rotten fruit. Taste is sweet and slightly sour. Very thin, very eh, another sour under the belt.

11.2oz bottle, labeled "old brown", 5% alcohol, purchased from Embassy in Warren, MI. Pours a bright, slightly oily ruby color; minimal head formation. Lots of overripe red fruits, very lightly tart citrus and balsamic notes in the aroma; touches of metallic notes and quite overripe. Medium mouthfeel: again, lightly tart citrus and overripe red fruits (cherries, esp.); solid but not overly pungent balsamic character, and a decent amount of acidity; the metallic note seems even more pronounced at the beginning than the nose suggests, then starts to dissipate to mixed red fruits and reasonably pleasant citrus; messy, but not as flabby as many of the balsamic-laden sour ales. Medium finish: overripe red fruits, metallic notes, and balsamic; the metallic note lingers.
