Commercial Description:
Old sour beer is blended with sweet young beer before bottling to create a beer with a sour nose, sweet taste, and a slight sour aftertaste. Ichtegem’s goes great with shrimp or can also be used to marinate various kinds of meat in.

A red beer with a fine beige head though fast disappering. The aroma is sweet with caramel notes. The flavor is sweet and slightly sour combined with notes of raisins and red currants.

(Bottle 25 cl) Reddish brown with a small, beige head. Lightly vinegary almost rotten aromas. Typical and very pronounced metallic flavours. But unlike most sour ales this has more sweet than sour. And even some bitter hops in the finish. Not bad, but not very typical for it’s style. 050398

33 cL bottle. Pours deep reddish towards brown and with a lacing brown head. Earthy and mouldy aroma. Flavour is cane-sugarish sweet and with a mild malt note. Finish is somewhat short and not thrilling but still good.

Light unclear medium red brown color with a average, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, berry - raisin, light berry sour. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and only very light sour with a average long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (030708)

Bottle. Weak, malty, fruity aroma. Clear brown colour. Quite stable, light brown head. The flavour is quite malty and sugary. Not very sour, but has a bit of a rough bitterness. Too sugary, but better than most oud bruins.

Bottled (my Belgian rating #700). Deep reddish brown colour with brown foamy head. Aroma is fruits, earth and some acidic notes. Flavour is really sour malts, fruity hops and licorace. Quite pleasant and wellbalanced brew. Could be a bit more sour.
