Flavor is sour fruit mainly apples. It tastes fairly close to a cider. Palate was a little thin and tart. This is not very complex but I enjoyed it. oh6gdx (9047), Vasa, Finland

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Nov 12, 2007 A dense, dark pour reminiscent of Sprecher’s Bavarian Black with a persistent, slightly creamy head’ pervasive notes of berries, yeast, and chocolate.
The actual flavor is surprisingly tart and tangy with punctuations of rye and pear; a thin mouthfeel and great deal of fermentation-like effervescence.
Oud Bruin would do best as simply a sipping beer, but if you must pair something with it, keep it simple: Ridderost or maybe a Port Salut. JorisPPattyn (5191), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2003 Dark brown, reddish shine. Yellowish, creamy head. Lactic acid, vineous, oakwood, fruity. In the taste, a kind of artificial sweetness, amazing as the background is quite OK, with the right acids, woody-vineous, old wood-like flavours you expect from the style. Sweetness is cloying, and impares the refreshing possibilities. Medium-full. It loses all the points on the added sweetness. Shame. Bov (5490), Bienne, Switzerland

Softly carbonated. Gently sweet and malty like a fresh, good quality malt loaf. Chocolate notes. Very little in the way of bitterness, and nothing tart or sour. A well grounded and nicely balanced ale. Understated and quite moreish.
