Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Apr 20, 2008 On draught at the City Lounge in downtown Cudahy, Wisconsin. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thick and creamy off-white head that has some good retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of mostly vanilla bean, milk chocolate, a touch of coffee and flowery hops. Taste is medium to full bodied, light carbonation with flavors of vanilla, chocolate, toasted dark malt and a touch of coffee. Finish has a mild bitterness with vanilla flavor that lingers around esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Mar 16, 2008 Draught at City Lounge. Dark brown with thin head. Very vanilla aroma with hints of chocolate. Almost overpowering vanilla and a coffee like finish. Overall it’s a decent beer. prosqtor (408), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Aug 31, 2007 Updated: May 26, 2008Re-rated 5/26/08:
From a growler, purchased in Cudahy by a friend. Pours deep black, with a minimal brownish head (commercial description is correct, it’s almost grayish). This is quite smooth, and improved greatly as it warmed from 40 degrees to closer to 55 or 60. Nice rich stout, with plenty of coffee and cocoa, and a nice sweet vanilla to offset. Vanilla is more in the aroma than the flavor.

Pretty good. Strong vanilla aroma (not my favorite), but balanced well in the glass by the roasted taste and coffee hints. Pretty decent, just not as good as their oatmeal. BeerBelcher (930), Columbus, Ohio, USA Mar 16, 2007 Perhaps my senses were burned out by drinking a Double Crooked Tree when I tried this beer, but it was not impressive. It didn’t really make an impression on any of my senses.
It poured an opaque black with minimal head. It had absolutely no aroma. Flavor was slightly sweet and milky, but I didn’t really detect much/any vanilla. Mouthfeel was very flat, and what stout flavor there was seemed cloaked in a watery package.
I had this beer on-tap at Landmark 1850 Inn in Milwaukee. I have some doubts as to the sanitation of their tap-lines; nothing I drink there seems to taste as good as it should. However, I understand this beer is brewed by the Landmark’s owner - I would think this beer’s condition would have a lot of attention paid to it. JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA Feb 19, 2006 On tap at the Landmark in Milwaukee WI. Pours a very dark brownish black with light grayish brown head. Strong vanilla aroma with soem maltiness. Smooth, with a barley malt flavor that subsides to a hollow cream-soda like vanilla finish. JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Sep 8, 2005 Dark brown with a small tan lid. Vanilla extract aromas dominate the aromas. A vanilla flavor start that only subsides slightly to a roasted barley taste. Seems like the vanilla took over and held no prisoners. Seems to synthetic for me. Needs more sweet malt to back things up.
