Real nice bready aroma, just what I like in an octoberfest beer. Flavor was a little thin, lightly malty, but another real good drinker. (1055)

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 10, 2006 Pours a med. copper, clear, with a minimal white head. Aroma is lite bread, some diacetyl, no sulphur. Descent caramelization. Body is downright thin with a semi-sweet palate. The flavors are mildly fruity with some breadiness but not as much as I would have expected. The finish has no hops. This is a hard style to do when not equiped with a triple decoction system and this is another example that misses the mark because of a single infusion mash. Just really lacking in the maltiness expected from the style. BeerandBlues2 (3216), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 31, 2005 Draught in Colorado Springs. Pours mahagony - maple brown with a frothy tan head and spotty lacing. Caramel nutty light roasted malt and yeast aroma. Sour malt (meal, straw) and sweet dough yeast flavor. Medium bodied and smooth, clean palate. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 5, 2004 Draught at the taproom in Albuquerque on two occasions. Clear copper body with mild carbonation and a minimal off-white head. Malty nose of caramel, dark bread crusts, and a light chocolate note. Flavor has an odd roasty character for an Oktoberfest (or a mocktoberfest) with noticeable caramelization and citrus and earthy qualities. The combination of flavor is somewhat discordant. Unlike any beer I’ve ever sampled. In a blind tasting, I think I would have pegged this as a roasty brown ale.
