Taste is hoppy and then bitter, with a long bitter aftertaste. It’s got a little bit of spice to it, but not much else. The body is a little watery, and leaves a film on your mouth. xproudfoot (729), Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 28, 2006 Good fruity hop aroma with a standard malt note breaking through. Reddish amber with thin beige head and lacing. Flavor leans towards the malty with off notes of soap/shoe malt. decent hop finish. Moderate to light aluminum quality to finish. Still, the 2nd best thing they had on tap. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 16, 2006 "Independence American Pale Ale", on tap at the brewpub and listed as a seasonal, side-by-side with the darker and maltier Independence Ale. Golden body with an oily, off-white head. Aroma of tea-like malt and moderate popcorn butter. Woodsy hop flavor and decent malt balance with medium bitterness. Diacetyl integrates reasonably well, but still detracts a little. A fair APA.
