Swalden28 (744), McKinney, Texas, USA May 5, 2008 Bottle, from Kegs & Barrels, McKinney, TX. Pours a nice translucent brown with beige head with minimal retention. Aroma of slight roast & chocolate. Flavor was pleasant, nice roasty chocolate with dark fruit notes. Palate was light-medium feel with medium-high carbonation. Not bad......
xibalba89 (146), New York, New York, USA Dec 26, 2008 Pours a very dark brown with a minimal head. The aroma is great... tons of roasted nuts, prunes and dates. The flavor has lots of sweet brown malts and dark fruits peppered with nuts. A nice cheap version of a belgian brown. Good beer.
llcooldave (212), San Antonio, Texas, USA Sep 27, 2008 Wow... for a brown ale this really is dark, almost black. Immediate nose of licorice and malt. Slightly sweet malty flavor with the licorice note also present in the flavor. Fairly easy drinking, no really hoppy bitterness. I could probably drink more of these. Bockyhorsey (2118), Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 9, 2008 Bottle. Roasted nutty aroma and some mild sweet malt. Brown body with thin head. Roasted coffee and nut flavor. Light sweet roast on palate. Alright brew blutt59 (1068), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 26, 2008 bottle, amber color with good caramel candy and chocolate flavors, medium body and finish of cocoa and brown sugar Sparky27 (822), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jul 9, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Bockhorsey. Pours a clear dark brown with minimal head, sans for a soap scum on top, but leaves some spotty lacing. Nose is roasted nuts and a touch of coffee. Taste is smoky, mild coffee and roasted walnuts with a semi-sweet toffee finish. Medium, fairly creamy mouth feel. I’m not a huge fan of brown ales but I’d drink this one again – I liked it better than Moose Drool. Probably because it’s not nearly as sweet. Decent brew. Thanks Bill!
