DrFunk (80), Sorumsand, Norway Aug 6, 2008 Bottle curtesy of Vea. pours muddy orange with disappearing white head. Wheat aromas with sitrussy notes. Metallic taste. Mint and wheatmalt on the finish. Very disappointing.
Sigmund (2011), Hafrsfjord, Norway Nov 19, 2008 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Brew #840. ABV is 4.5%. Pale golden colour, fairly clear, just a faint haziness. Big to moderate white head. Aroma of artificial "banana candy" (not very pleasant), also notes of honey, coriander and cloves. Fizzy mouthfeel. Like others have said the flavour is very estery and "wheat beer"-like, notes of coriander, cloves and banana (but not too much), refreshing and not too sweet. Moderate hops in the finish. yngwie (3893), Kristiansand, Norway Oct 30, 2008 Bottle #821. It pours a golden-orange, hazy body with a finger-thick white head. Very lively carbonation. Bananaish on the nose, slighlty candy-like, with some notes of citrus and coriander. Actually more reminiscent of a hefe-weizen. Quite nice though. Very effervescent in the mouth, medium body. Quite sweet flavor, again banana, some citrus and cloves, and also a little bitterness. Sweet finish with more pronounced bitterness. As a kölsch, it’s far from bullseye, it seems the brewer has been peeking too much on his wit and hefeweizen recipes, but it’s a tasteful, quaffable beer. A bit over-carbonated maybe, but that’s ok. Could easily drink more of this one. (081030) thebeertourist (2060), Oslo, Norway Sep 26, 2008 Bottle from Fenakroken. Batch no 824. Hazy golden with an unstable head. Nose is fruity, sweet and yeasty. Hint of oranges. The taste is also very fruity, but spicy as well, mostly coriander, adding quite a bit of bitterness. Medium-bodied. Feels closer to a wit, except for the bitterness, than a kölsch, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Absolutely drinkable. tarjei (1417), Bryne, Norway Aug 10, 2008 0,5 l bottle - shared with Asgeir and Sølve. Thank you, yngwie. Batch # 821. Slightly hazy golden color, fine white head. Aroma is fruit and some sweet malt. Flavor is sweet malty, citrus and fruit, some bitterness and has a wheaty touch. Nice, but all in all a bit thin.
