sinkas (175), Perth/Fremantle, Australia Jul 9, 2008 On tap at Brewhaus
A little light on the nose, but some nice aromas there, spritzy crisp and refreshing, a really good pils ALLOVATE (1127), Perth, Australia Oct 8, 2007 Ahhh, it is but that sweet time of year again where big glass tankards come out and the beer takes a little longer to pour, but goes down in double-time - yes, Oktoberfest!!!. Lunch here at the Brewhaus, a Bavarian dish and this beside all glistening in the midday sun. It shimmers the clearest yellow-gold, nice even and fine streams of bubbles making their way up to burst to life in the form of a condensed pad of snow that laces intricately. It’s aroma a heady mix of gritty, haystack and dusty malts, floral hops and just a touch fresh baked, warm white bread; sultry!!! Big, yet small, rampaging, yet softer than a brush with a feather is the palate. Very clean, broad toasted malts and gritty pale grains dance with tangy, slightly sour malt and hops in back with a good infusion of peppery spices and fresh herbs throughout. The swallow so neat and tight, remains crisp, clean, floral with just a touch of late pilsner malt as it sinks down into darkness. Its front has a subtle sweetness, the very rear a moderate bitterness that flows with the flavour, a lovely linger of palest Summer grains and floral, zesty hops are left well melded to the tongue. Near a litre gone and it holds so well, keeping as if fresh poured with each sip. This is just one fantastic, true to style pilsner, the best I have had since returning from Deutschland and one worthy of more than just a Silver at the Beer awards. Definitely one I’d go out of my way to savour, a truly lovely drop!!! (90cL tankard, from draught) bluevegie (1769), Perth, Australia Aug 13, 2006 Bronze body with the same poor head poured as previous beer, not a lot on the nose, malt bitterness late, more of a bohemia pils with more bitter units coming through. The beer is served in a large pilsener glass if buying a large but just a regular glass if buying a ½ although they do have smaller pilsener glassware.
