BrewDad (1657), Olympia, Washington, USA Jun 22, 2008 12oz Bottle - Trade - Pumpkinheart
Aroma – Light malt aroma with some honey lingering.
Appearance – Very light amber in color, slight haze with a light head.
Flavor – Light malt and honey flavor.
Palate – Decent Mouthfeel, good texture with a dry finish.
Overall – A nice beer this beer did not hit the mark. The rose hips where so light it was a disappointment. Was hoping for ore flavor. Too Mellow.
SHIG (1506), Oberoffligen, Germany Sep 4, 2008 Bottle: Poured a copper color with hazy float murkiness to it, the head is white and thin. Aroma is sweet with honey and veggy, also had a funk to it. Taste is calky with malt and a dirty flowers. Guerde (473), Welcome, Minnesota, USA Aug 4, 2008 (bottle thanks OSLO!) Pours an amber color with a white head. When I first smelled this beer, the first thing that popped into my head was that this beer smelled exactly like fish slime. It’s like when you catch a northern pike and you smell your hands after taking it off the hook. Needless to say, it’s not very pleasant. After that initial shock, the aroma became very vegetal, with some hints of brown sugar and floral hints from the rose, which was somewhat of an improvement. The taste was very sweet and really that’s all I can say about it because the flavor disappeared just as quickly as it appeared. There was a light finish of lemon. I have no idea how this is a vienna, as I did not possess any of the toastiness that viennas normally display. Definitely an interesting experience to drink this beer, but not one I’d like to repeat. OSLO (609), Minnesota, USA Aug 4, 2008 [Bottle, thanks for gifting me this bottle, Daknole!] Pours amber with a tiny white head. Definitely get the sweet, floral aroma from the rose hips, and the honey is also present...but there is a very unpleasant vegetal aspect that got worse and worse as I drank it. The taste is a muddled mess with the malt quite present, and the honey and rose hips drowned out by the vegetal taste. Medium-thin mouthfeel with a medium-short finish. This beer really was not very good, and actually became fairly offensive towards the end, but still I am happy that I got to try it, so thanks again Dakine! tytoanderso (1183), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Aug 2, 2008 12oz bottle. Well... it sure is... um interesting. Wet and slightly moldy and rotting bread dough. Stewed veggies. I do get a bit of toasty malt, but I’m really stretching here. Pours a muddy copper. Nearly still looking. Flavor is awash in DMS and all shades of not good. Highly carbonated with a short buttery finish. Thanks Al? Sparky27 (516), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jul 31, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Daknole. Pours a cloudy iced tea color with minimal head, sans a white ring around the glass. Nose is sweet malt and honey. Taste is very similar to the aroma. Sweet, but not cloying so, and has a mild bitter finish. Medium mouth feel. Interesting brew. Thanks Dakine.
