Commercial Description:
India Pale Ales were first brewed by British Brewers for the Brits when they occupied India. These ales were invented to meet the demand that the Brits had for their pints… The problem was that without refrigerated cargo containers the beer was spoiling on the voyage over; so the brewers discovered that if they “hopped” up the beer and rose up the alcohol content that the beer would arrive in fine shape. Following that long tradition Indian Wells Brewing Co. has made a classic IPA. This ale comes in at a more traditional IBU of 52; so if you’re looking for a crazy over the top IPA; sorry try another beer… But is you like a clean; dry hopped beer that compliments spicy foods or just like the taste of hops; give our Amnesia IPA a try today!

Copper color with a small off-white head. Nose is floral and yeasty. Taste is a little less hoppy than the typical American IPA. The malts show through the hops clearly. Alcohol is also subtly apparent. There’s a sourness in the taste that I’m not sure what is causing that taste component and a slight astringency. Mildly hoppy finish with some lingering sourness.

Pours a nice amber color. Only light aroma of fruity hops. Flavor is some hops up front and a decent malt profile. Medium to light body. A slight lingering hop essence. Not especially hoppy for an IPA but drinkable.

12 oz. bottler served in shaker- poured very slightly turbid dark amber with copper tints, lively medium carbonation, thin strip of white atop of the liquid surface that kind of looked like a golf driver (?!?). Light aroma of caramel malt, a few hops, and my money going down the drain. Hits the mouth with a light-medium body, malt has been sweetened to a point where it’s a little too unrefined, bitterness throughout, some acidity on the finish. Definitely more like a pale ale than an IPA. I want to forget about this one much like it’s name- wait a minute, I have, it’s not here anymore.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with some floaters and a 2 finger billowy off-white head. The nose is malt and soapy hops. The taste is malt and some sour fruity hops, cherry-like flavor with a bitter resin finish. Medium bodied. Not too terribly bad sans for that distracting taste in the middle.

Bottle. Pours a hazy gold brown with a nice one finger head. Excellent aroma of citrus hops, caramel, honey. Flavor was disappointing, light hops but mainly roasted malts and soap.
