Commercial Description:
India Pale Ales were first brewed by British Brewers for the Brits when they occupied India. These ales were invented to meet the demand that the Brits had for their pints… The problem was that without refrigerated cargo containers the beer was spoiling on the voyage over; so the brewers discovered that if they “hopped” up the beer and rose up the alcohol content that the beer would arrive in fine shape. Following that long tradition Indian Wells Brewing Co. has made a classic IPA. This ale comes in at a more traditional IBU of 52; so if you’re looking for a crazy over the top IPA; sorry try another beer… But is you like a clean; dry hopped beer that compliments spicy foods or just like the taste of hops; give our Amnesia IPA a try today!

really solid IPA with a cool name. It’s not as hoppy or bitter as a normal IPA and would probably be a good APA, but nonetheless a good beer. out of bottle from Whole Foods Mountain View

Copper color with a small off-white head. Nose is floral and yeasty. Taste is a little less hoppy than the typical American IPA. The malts show through the hops clearly. Alcohol is also subtly apparent. There’s a sourness in the taste that I’m not sure what is causing that taste component and a slight astringency. Mildly hoppy finish with some lingering sourness.

Yellowish brown in appearance, moderate head. Slightly malty, flowery aroma. Not very hoppy at all for an IPA, but it can be slightly tasted. The alcohol content is well masked and it’s just perfectly carbonated. If you’re a hophead, this isn’t the IPA for you. That being said, I’m not, and I think it’s delicious.

This was a decent enough brew, it just never really struck me as an IPA, especially one from California. The aroma isn’t strong of floral or citrus, and the flavor isn’t overly bitter. A bit malty almost. Pretty good. Interestingly, the six-pack says Amnesia IPA but the bottle says Ameni.

Bottle: Pours an earthy amber color with light head and lacing. The nose is faint and malty, thin though. the flavor is herbal with some pine and grass along with a chewy caramel malt tail Balanced finish. More like a malty pale ale or hoppy amber ale.

Bottle from Wholefoods. Fizzy copper brown with an earthy herbal hops and caramel aroma. Crisp grainy, earhty, grassy taste with some caramel notes. Decent.
