Commercial Description:
This is our newest beer made exclusively for Whole Food Markets. This dry Irish style stout has a smooth milky finish due to the barley flakes used in the mashing process that will leave you wanting another! We think this dry, slightly burnt tasting ale is just the trick for any dark beer drinker; so if stouts are your thing; give ours a try. Now available at any of your local Whole Food Markets in California, Nevada, Texas and Arizona.

Bottle from ericandersnavy. Blackout Stout and its not an imperial? Pours with a fading tan head over a deep brown body. Aroma of brown sugar, molasses, chocolate, and cocoa powder. Taste is thin, leathery with coffee grounds. Dry and thin mouthfeel.

Bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Dark brown pour. Think this one might have been served too cold. Scent has nice chocolate malts. Taste has some nice smoky flavorings. Interesting but slightly bland. I bet this improves greatly as it warms.

Some coffee in the aroma. This isn’t all that good, just a little bit of coffee, some weight, but mostly unimpressive.

Local bottle. Dark brown pour with a small, short lasting tan head and no lacing. Aroma of coffee, molassas and maybe a touch of soy sauce. Odd flavour. Lots of nuttiness, burnt malt bitterness and some smoke. Pretty thin. Decent I suppose but nothing special.

Bottle thanks to bhensonb: Pours an opaque black with a thin, spotty-lacing beige head. Aroma of toasty dark caramel and roasted malts with a hint of coffee. Body starts with average fullness and a touch of sweet caramel malt which soon fades into a roasted nutty and burnt drier finish. Has some lingering peanut brittle character without the sweetness. A pretty true to style and drinkable brew.

This dark brown beer poured with a nice tan head and a smoked malt aroma. The flavor is burnt, creamy and malty, but a bit too thin for a stout.

Bottle at Whole Foods in Sacramento. Very black color with an emphemeral tan head. Smells burntly toasty. About medium body with creamish carbonation. Flavor is really gritty burnt toast. Goes on to a touch of sweetness before finishing burnt, lightly smoky, bitter. It’s an ok thing, and reminds of the original Guinness from 40 years ago. Except the flavor leaves the mouth rather than staying. Arguably a bit short on ingredients.

This is the new stout that Whole Foods is pushing like it came from heaven or something. I haven’t had a good beer from Indian Wells yet, but hey, anything can happen! Looks like a stout should. Black with a tan head. Head is very small. Aroma is good and fruity. Lots of espresso, dark chocolate, and dried fruit. If only it tasted as good as it smelled. This is very watery. Hardly any flavor at all. Palate is thin and watery as well. I wish I could say that this was a good attempt from Indian Wells, but there is just no excuse for putting this on the market.
