Commercial Description:
This smooth rich dark southern German dobblebock is an Indian Wells Brewing Co. favorite. This 10.8% beer is powerful, but VERY easy to drink! This beer is not for the timid. A few of them and you’ll feel like you’ve had a frontal lobotomy the next day. Consume with caution!

12oz bottles acquired in trades with BMan1113VR & lb4lb (thanks!). Poured a dark brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of nuttiness, roasty, and caramel. Tastes of nuts, lighter roast, chocolate, and caramel. No way I would have pegged this one at over 10%.

12oz bottle: Pours a transparent copper mahogany with a thin, wispy-lacing off-white head. Complex aroma of sweet molten dark caramel with a hint of milk chocolate and authentic German lager yeast. Body starts much less sweeter than expected with a fizzy palate and dry toasty grainy notes. Seems to hide it’s alcohol pretty well in an almost watery finish. Great aroma, but the flavor is a let down.

12 bottle. Pours clear dark amber brown with nearly no head. Sweet but faint nose of maple, oak, tobacco, maple, molasses, but basically the aroma is very faint and nearly unnoticeable. Similar taste - sweet chewy malts, some wood, toast, bread, nuts, but all very light. Lacks depth.

Bottle. Dark mahogany color with a fizzy tan head that didn’t last long. Aroma of mild dark fruit and roasted caramel. Biting, fizzy carbonation. Body starts medium but thins. Flavor is mostly darkly roasted caramel, but there seems to be lighter fruit notes as well. Finishes surprisingly dry. It’s not dry, dry, but it sure is not sticky. Leaves an impression of soil in the mouth - not necessarily a bad thing. The heat was not really noticeable until it was pretty well down the gullet. Certainly easy to quaff. Danger, Will Robinson.

Poured a clear deep mahognay color with a beige head. The aroma was of chocolate and prunes with notes of tobacco. The flavor was light and dull with short dark fruits and short sweetness. Light body.

Tasted during the Nor Cal Beer Geek Tasting on 3/11/2009. This dopplebock pours a medium brown color from the bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied dopplebock. The malts are fruity and sweet, caramel and some chocolate. The hops are earthy. Seems a touch thin tasting. Hides the alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
