12oz bottle. I’m not much for this style of ale anyway, but this beer didn’t even meet my low expectations. Nice spice aroma with some nutmeg and clove. However, the beer tasted really watery and surprisingly bland. So bad that I couldn’t even finish it. The second really disappointing beer that I’ve had from this brewery.

Bottle from Whole Foods in Sacramento, CA. Pours light amber with a small white head. Aroma is primarily pumpkin pie spice. Less than medium body with sharp carbonation. Flavor is pie spice, but it’s almost perfumey. Settles down to more standard pie spice. Then the perfumey returns with each quaff. Interesting. A tick. Not likely to do another.

Local bottle. Man this was not good. The appearance was rather average orange and still looking. The aroma was okay but seemed a little chemical and perfumey. The taste was awful. Very spicy from buckets of cinnamon and nutmeg. Poured it out.

Appearance: Pours an auburn gold with no head. The body is very clear. Within the clarity, you see very few rising bubbles. Aroma: Pumpkin pie air freshener, real pumpkin pulp Taste: A huge mouthful of nutmeg and cinnamon, followed by slight pumpkin meat, and sparkling mineral water. Mouthfeel: Super thin and fizzy. Overall: I give this beer credit for creativity, but unfortunately, ranks low on my list of pumpkin beers. I’m not a huge fan of the style, but after having Southern Tier Pumpking and The Bruery Autumn Maple, I am a believer in the possibility of a good one.

This orange/gold beer poured with a rich off-white head and a pumpkin pie aroma. There is a decent caramel malt base but, yes, there is too much spice and too little substance. It may make a good theme beer for thanksgiving or halloween, but has no other appeal.

First to review! Single 12oz bottle purchased for $1.50 at Whole Foods in Los Altos. Pours clear golden orange with a fizzy white head. Aroma is pumpkin spice and pale malt. Seems really heavily spiced. Flavor is fairly sweet pale malt and loads of pumpkin spice - too much nutmeg and cinnamon - as well as some tree bark, with a dry, empty finish. Palate watery and thin with some zing from the spices. This beer is the antithesis of balance. The spice level is way too high. Not very drinkable.
