Commercial Description:
Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Available filtered and pasteurised in bottles.
"For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish."

Co-worker got a case for his birthday and I was able to wrestle a bottle away from him. Scottish brewers add dimension to their portfolio with whiskey-oaked English Strong Ale. Woody, vanilla, whiskey sweetened ale that I found unique and enjoyable.

Sour oak aroma. Clear orange color with a small white head. Moderate oak flavor to start off. Finishes with a creamy vanilla taste.

Excellent. Merci Thierry

Had this in a gold rimmed Innis & Gunn glass on 1/1/07 at an All-Bar-One in London. Pours a coppery color with a smaller 1/4 finger off white head. Earth tones, scotch, oak, and hops on the aroma. First taste is Vanilla, oak, malt, chocolate, caramel and grapes. Finishes with some light bitters, oak, chocolate, earth, and a big dry malt taste. Palate is smooth and creamy. An excellent beer for sure. I wonder what everyone else was drinking! Aftertaste is a little malt heavy.

Yeah, this is the one that I tried. Oak aged beer indeed. Well they can age it as much as they want in their special way, but this is one of the few beers I could only have half a bottle of, only 330ml and all thats how disgusting this tasted!
