Pretty flat and malty on the nose. Nothing special. Plenty in the mouth though. Very relaxed but with heaps of delicious sweet but spicy rum flavours. Very old-school sailor style. I actually like the flavour that is brought out here. Very different. Not too delicate or culture but definitely different.

Dec 1, 2009 330 ml clear bottle in cardboard box, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget) - also at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.4%. Clear mahogany coloured beer with an off-white to beige head. Intense aroma of oak rum cask, notes of vanilla, spices, alcohol, brown sugar, treacle, rum-raisin and dark dried fruits. The flavour is distinctly oaky, but more mellow and rounded (without the strong notes of fresh wood) compared to the ordinary Innis & Gunn. Moderate sweetness, moderate notes of rum and spices, dry finish, very moderate hops. Should not be drunk too cold.

Nov 22, 2009 330ml bottle @ home.Poured a deep mahogany with only a very small head and little carbonation., Molasses and malt on the nose, with a sweetness from the rum and a general fruitines in the swallow. I didn’t feel it drank to its strength, making it a deceptively easy beer to drink despite its abv.. A very pleasant beer.

Nov 19, 2009 33 cl bottle at home. Deep brown color with some red in it, fine off-White head. Aroma is dried fruit, wood and rum, malt. Flavor is sweet malty, dried fruit, spices, wood, hints of sourness. A bit too much alcohol in a beer at only 7,4%. All in all a fine beer.

Nov 18, 2009 330ml bottle at Håndverkerstuene, which is the new great place for beer enjoyment in Oslo. Nice ruby coloured body with solid, beige patchwork. Aroma of barrel vanilla with rum. Dark vanilla in flavour in interplay with spiced malt. Dry, rounded bitter ending. Tolerable sweet. Feels well balanced and well bodied in the mouth. Likable (Oslo, 17.11.2009).

Nov 15, 2009 11th August 2008. People whom know more about beer than me say all these Innis & Gun beers are full diacetyl. I guess I must like diacetyl!!! Very sweet and complex. Starts with sweet rum, wood and even a little chewing gum. Continues onwith sweet buttercream.

Nov 14, 2009 330 ml bottle in a fancy box from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. Bought last year in Winter Warmers release.
App.: Very deep brown-copper with a rim of tan.
Aroma: Smells like rum. That’s not just power of suggestion folks. This reeks of a Jamaican Reserve or DR Anejo (maybe Extra Viejo), dates and raisins, slightly brighter fruits, a bit pepper and spicy, there’s a hint of stinky ash (really), tart berries, wood.
Palate: Medium body and moderate-full effervescence.
Flav.: Lots of stewed dry dark fruits, vanilla, rum, wood, some warm spices; lightly sweet with low bitterness and residual rumminess, some warming alcohol.
Not great, but better than the usual I&G.

Nov 13, 2009 Onsdag^2 11.11.09 at Cardinal. Pours clear red golden with a light brown creamy head that lasts. Rum, date, cask wood, vanilla and plum on the nose. Flavor is sour and sweet. light to medium bodied with a syrupy, dry texture. Carbonation is soft and it finishes sour.

Pours deep brown with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma of sweet ripe fruits. Taste is strange Sour/watery, reminds me of black crowberry, moderate bitterness.
