| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 20, 2009 330 mL bottle. Copper-brown with a very small ring of head. Typical acidic, woody, vanilla, and caramel nose to this one. Flavour is restrained, kinda like a rye-and-water with a some raisins and vanilla thrown in. There is something a little different at the end, maybe a little brown sugar and chocolate. Bitter finish. I’d like this brewer to come up with something that lives up to its packaging.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 23, 2009 Rich mahogany in colour, thin but lasting off-white head, light lacing.
Aroma doesn’t have the usual butter that I come to expect in Innis & Gunn beers, some caramel and chocolate malts, moderate sweetness.
Flavour is quite sweet, lots of caramel, light chocolate, some malts, mild alcohol.
Very sweet mouthfeel, medium/light body, mild carbonation.
Finishes quite sweet, lingering.
Finally an Innis & Gunn beer that didn’t have the butter. Ridiculously sweet though.
330ml bottle purchased from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario.
Opened on December 5, 2009.
Best before December 2010. Boutip (2396), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Bottle: Poured a clear deep mahogany color ale with a small foamy head with average retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light oak and some lightly sweet malt is more timid then I had expected. Taste is also more thin then expected with some light oak notes and a English caramel malt base with very little character. Body is a bit thin thought creamy texture was enjoyable with some good carbonation. I was expecting a lot more oak based on the description and prior beer tasted from this brewer. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 21, 2009 Bottle. Again with the fancy over-packaging.... This pours a clear dark amber with a golden thick frothy head. Aroma has chocolate, caramel, banana, and vanilla (made me think of a dunkelweiss or weizenbock). Palate is more woody/earthy chocolate and caramel, with a subtle spiciness. The oak-beer balance is nicely done here, although for a 7+% ABV this comes across as a little thin. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Dec 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown/red with a thin light brown head. Aroma of oak and caramel. Tastes malty, with nut and chocholate notes, with a slight pine hop bitterness, with strong oak flavours. A bit earthy. Pretty good... actually tastes kind of mild... blankboy (3251), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Bottle [330ml]. Pours a deep amber-brown with a small frothy/creamy off-white head. Mild aroma of dark fruit, caramel malt, light oak and a hint of vanilla. Flavour, also mild (and watery), of caramel malt, dark fruit, light oak and some vanilla and sugary sweetness -- it’s all very subtle and muted though. There’s practically no finish at all. Average bodied. It’s easy to drink but it’s disappointing (to me), it’s overly mild and almost boring. GRM (1283), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada
