SkyinBrian (429), Collinsville, Illinois, USA Jul 10, 2005 well, mine must be a fairly old bottle since this is much more about the malt than the hops, but was good. rich malty taste. perhaps a bit thin, but still good. Braudog (3732), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jul 4, 2005 My undated bottle poured with a very high degree of sediment which leads me to believe it may have been a the shelf a bit long. All the same, this was an enjoyable quaff ... big-bodied sweet malty beer with a distinct tone of peat, light smoke and raisins. Different. ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 4, 2005 Hazy orange beer with a small white head. Light sweet malty aroma with a nice hoppy bitterness. Flavor starts malty, then becomes more hoppy bitter and light fruity. Dry finish. Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 17, 2005 Updated: Jul 3, 2005(Bottle 50 cl) Amber, slightly hazy, very limited head. Fresh, bitter with slightly smoked notes. Very light in body making this very easy to drink. Not a great beer, but quite sympathetic. Somehow the kid-brother to "Lia Fail". 010305 jimhilt (1662), Bow, New Hampshire, USA May 10, 2005 Pours a one-finger white head that goes quickly leaving no lace. Clear amber color. Light carbonation and light-medium bodied. Slightly sweet malty nose. Starts sweetish, hops are there at finish but hardly over powering. $1.95 for a 330ml bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA. Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Apr 4, 2005 This had a delicious ale aroma. Buttery, peaty, British hop aroma. Nice citrine gold with a good bottle and label. A bit briny and peaty, not too sweet, some wood, some diacetyl. Slight complaint on the mouthfeel - a bit watery. Finish has some pistachio and quits quickly Bittering is toasty and not aggressive. Sammy (3928), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 29, 2005 Scotch aroma. Cloudy pale orange appearance with lace. Little head. Tasty scotch, touch of smoke, significant malty some hop pootzboy (1029), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada Mar 29, 2005 Bottled (thanks Viggo) Pour reveals a lightly hazed honey-gold ale with a smallish cap and light carbonation. The aroma of this ale is one of the best noses I’ve experienced in an ale: fruity, pears with musty citrus and a wisp of smoke. Medium body sweet malt and the teast-hop mix leave a lightly smoked pear cider taste...wet finish...mild and mellow but tastey...a very nice scottish ale.
