MullMan (1080), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA Mar 20, 2005 on cask at the Spuyten Duyvil, Brooklyn. fairly clean golden amber color, dense foamy off-white head. mild hops and wet hay aroma. flavor is dry grassy and dryish bitter hops, but not high on the IBU scale. fairly mild. little to no carbonation. little to no aftertaste. BeerAteHer (384), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Feb 17, 2005 Pours a watery head with large bubbles and similar lacing. Aroma is quite malty but also includes some smoky orange elements. Complex heather and pine notes to the flavor, and just the right touch of roasted peat to distinguish this as a classy Scottish brew. The finish loses the complex elements and is fundamental pleasant hops-bitter with a grainy tint. Somewhat thin and runny body but has enough carbonation. Rather pricy but I would highly recommend for special occasions. Dalle (1146), Skørping, Denmark Feb 13, 2005 Bottle. Dark golden with a pretty white head and lace. Hoppy! Flowers, fruit, grass, soap, dry, long finish. Nice. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Feb 10, 2005 Deep golden with reddish highlights with only traces of a head, this has butterscotch and suggestions of bitterness in the aroma. Bold malt and orange flavors blend together in this medium-bodied drink followed by a mildly bitter finish. I could see having more than a couple of pints of this in a night. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Dec 28, 2004 This bottled brew poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized mostly lasting white colored bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body contained soft carbonation, was transparent and light brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of grass and malt. Its mouth feel is initially thin and slightly flat. Its flavor contained mild malty hoppy notes. A very average brew. FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 21, 2004 Updated: Jun 12, 2006The bottle I found of this one said "the scottish pale ale" on it but it was clear form the first pour and sniff that this was really a bitter. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle the confused beer poured a caramel color with a small white head. The aroma was malty and sweet. The flavor had a sour malt and light nut flavor with a off flavored finish. A drinkable bitter but a beer with an identity problem. Jedsbrew (465), Rhineland, Missouri, USA Nov 19, 2004 Brownish copper color with minimal head, mild grapefruity hop aroma with a butterscotch note. Light to medium bodied, malty, surprisingly dry with a hint of an acidic sourness, some bitterness in the finish. I didn’t really notice the sweetness some reviewers mentioned-this beer was drinkable but kind of odd. beerslayer (753), New Jersey, USA Nov 7, 2004 This is an ok Bitter. smokey, sweet, and bland. Finishes clean, plain, and dry.
