| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 28, 2009 Bottled sample. Gold in colour with fairly strong and spritzy carbonation. Aromas are of white grapefruit, black pepper, pale malts, and dry leaves. More of a grapefuit and orange combo in the mouth, along with more spice and caramel arriving mid-sip. Some floral and very mild fruity UK yeast notes on the back end. Mineral and leafy dry on the finish. Medium to light bodied. Very fresh tasting. Way closer to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale than you might expect from a 4.1 % abv beer from Scotland. MullMan (1082), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 29, 2005 Bottled (thanks Viggo) Pour reveals a lightly hazed honey-gold ale with a smallish cap and light carbonation. The aroma of this ale is one of the best noses I’ve experienced in an ale: fruity, pears with musty citrus and a wisp of smoke. Medium body sweet malt and the teast-hop mix leave a lightly smoked pear cider taste...wet finish...mild and mellow but tastey...a very nice scottish ale. JK54B (931), Helsinki, Finland

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2008 Bottle 0.5 l. Yellow with white thick head. Nose is fresh, hoppy and fruity. Flavor is quite intensely bitter with a beautiful hoppy and malty aftertaste. Leans a bit to german pils style only a bit fruitier. Nicely thick for the abv. Winner!

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 15, 2007 Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a small head, nice lace, and a faint peaty sweet & floral aroma. Tastes like a blonde ale - somewhat fruity, with faint neutral bittering hops and some citrus (cascade) and floral notes. Faint almond & white vinegar taste. Lightly creamy body, sub-par carb. This would be excellent with a chilli or another spicy food, but on its own it doesn’t really stand-up. It’s too fruity to be a traditional bitter, but lacks the proper yeast to be a blonde. Ossian reminds me of the Italian "ossia", which means "or". This is either a bitter OR a blonde, OR possibly neither. scotty (832), Scotland

Fairly widely available, this one came from Tesco Gala, good clean gold with a good thickish white head. Fresh fruity nose with malty notes in the background. Well balanced palate with a noticable citrus character. A cracking beer!
