| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 23, 2006 Bottle from Super Saver. Coppery pour with little head. Aroma of slight hopcit, heavy caramel malt and tannins. Tastes caramel malty, dry, tannic, with some finishing hops. Finishes liquid caramelly without much sugar. Not bad. bhensonb (4374), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 19, 2008 Bottle from John’s Marketplace in Portland, OR. Hazy golden color with a nice white head. Aromas of pale malt and fruity esters. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is bitter hop over grain and malt. It’s all about the bitter - which is not over the top, but quite bitter. I’d guess about 60 IBU or better. We’re not talking malty ESB here. It’s a very good ale. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 1, 2007 Strong fruitiness, some doughy malt character and plenty of orange citrus with some mild butterscotch in the nose. Slightly hazy golden body is topped by a decent and very long lasting white head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Mild nutty sweetness underscores the honeyed malt character with some toastiness. Orange zest and floral hops offer a counterpoint and provide a fairly crisp bitterness. Medium body with soft bubbled, gentle carbonation that lasts throughout and awakens the tongue. A reasonable approximation of cask ale in a bottle even if it is pasteurized. Very nicely made. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle (Best Before Jul-08, Brewery Creek, May-07). heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 3, 2004 Bottle. Much different from the pic. Slight red and gold color with a little head. SLight orange smell and little flowery. The light mouthfeel is complemented with the earthy undetones and some nutmeg. Just enough going on in the flavor to keep it interesting. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jul 16, 2004 Bottle (Ossian Ale): Clear medium amber hue with lasting frothy white head and good lace. The aroma has notes of pine, apple, orange zest, pale malts, and earthy yeast esters. The taste has a surprisingly mild bitterness with a citric twang background. Some malt and flowery undertones. The finish has a sublime smoky nature and a hint of spice with the lungering smooth bitters. The feel is lively and crisp but much too thin. This beer is really a summer refresher with the lighter body and crisp piney nature. Sum is better than the parts. cgarvieuk (4214), Edinburgh, Scotland
