eczematic (1198), Sydney, Australia Oct 22, 2002 Updated: Jun 26, 2003pungent hoppy, herby aroma. lovely balance between fresh pale malt and herbal hops, then a really dry, salty, bitter, complex finish. this is excellent stuff - verging on orvalesque. 27/6 just banging this up a bit numberswise OffLicense (3), Rome, Italy does not count Aug 23, 2008 Great Golden Ale, from the north of Scotland , deep golden color, together with a compact white head, fresh fruity noise, well balanced beer with some great citrus notes.
I have to say one of my favorite summer ales, we’ve also had it in 5 litre party cask very interesting. fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Jan 15, 2002 Gold ale. Strong hop aroma; the aroma suggests some North American barley wines, such as Ipswich 1084... Medium bodied, bitter, aromatic. The palate too is dominated by the hop character, and enough persistent. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 4, 2002 Amber coloured. Light to medium bodied, grassy hop flavour, bitter finish. Well balanced. Sigmund (2197), Hafrsfjord, Norway Oct 15, 2008 500 ml bottle, bought at Lørenskog Brus-Shop. ABV is 4.1%. Golden colour, decent white head. Lovely aroma of fruity and floral hops, notes of honey. The flavour has distinct hops throughout, with grapefruity and nutty notes. Refreshing and moreish. Plenty of hoppy bitterness in the long aftertaste. johndoughty (2150), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Nov 30, 2003 Think the Scotish brewers who bought us this very pleasant pale ale might be concerned at it being described as an english pale ale.
A winner of several awards including the champion beer of Scotland in 2001 this is a full bodied amber ale with an underlying fruitiness. Quite full bodied and with more depth than you would normally expect in a 4.1 per center. Highly recommended. BeerAteHer (384), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Feb 17, 2005 Pours a watery head with large bubbles and similar lacing. Aroma is quite malty but also includes some smoky orange elements. Complex heather and pine notes to the flavor, and just the right touch of roasted peat to distinguish this as a classy Scottish brew. The finish loses the complex elements and is fundamental pleasant hops-bitter with a grainy tint. Somewhat thin and runny body but has enough carbonation. Rather pricy but I would highly recommend for special occasions. Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Apr 4, 2005 This had a delicious ale aroma. Buttery, peaty, British hop aroma. Nice citrine gold with a good bottle and label. A bit briny and peaty, not too sweet, some wood, some diacetyl. Slight complaint on the mouthfeel - a bit watery. Finish has some pistachio and quits quickly Bittering is toasty and not aggressive.
