Bottle from Tanakaya shop in Tokyo. This is a pretty big bottle. 500ml. A forgettable, slightly sweet, slightly grassy example of the style. Meh. Its notable characteristic is it’s got considerably more hops than the typical Blond Ale.

500 ml bottle. Fully lasting, huge fluffy offwhite head. Deep yellow-golden color. Light malty and strong grassy hop aroma. Notes of dough and bread. Taste has a nice floral-fruity bitterness and fine, light sweet malt base. Well-bodied considering the alcohol strenght. Fresh bitterness in the finish. Likable.

(50cl bottle, best before 6/09) Large white head atop hazy straw body. Aroma is medium sweet, straw, lemon, some grass, light honey/bread. Taste is medium sweet, lemon, some straw, light honey/bread. Light body, some wateriness, quite drinkable.

25-Aug-08 (500-ml bottle, Best before June, 2009: Purchased 12-May-08 for $5.89 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Grainy malts, buttered toast, background corn, and a bit of huskiness, but the huskiness is not reminiscent of spent grains. To balance the malt, the English hops add a very soft bitterness and mildly floral flavor. A gentle tartness also makes for a nice contrast to the more prominent maltiness. Light in body, but not watery, and the tartness and mild bitterness keep the palate clean and refreshed. The nose is malty, toasty, and slightly hoppy with a hint of butter. Golden-yellow in color with a slight haziness. The full inch of off-white foam settles in rocky fashion to a thin, bubbly layer. A curtain of beautiful, delicate, and very fine lacing covers the glass. A very enjoyable session beer that shows nice restraint.

Great Golden Ale, from the north of Scotland , deep golden color, together with a compact white head, fresh fruity noise, well balanced beer with some great citrus notes. I have to say one of my favorite summer ales, we’ve also had it in 5 litre party cask very interesting.

Cant believe I havent rated this before, its one of my favourite bottled beers. Fairly widely available, this one came from Tesco Gala, good clean gold with a good thickish white head. Fresh fruity nose with malty notes in the background. Well balanced palate with a noticable citrus character. A cracking beer!
