Handpulled at JDW Watford. Light copper with healthy white head. Nice well balanced ale with plenty of interesting characturistics. Had a scottish maltiness with an english bitterness, if you get my meaning! Very quaffable.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Guineas, Reading 29/5/08. Pale amber with a decent white head, that proved short-lived. Aroma of caramel balanced well by some grassy hops and fruit. Flavour started with some sweet malt before a decent, hoppy finish. A good effort.

[on draught in the Three Guineas, Reading] Amber with a moderate lasting head. Flavours are the standard best bitter ones - dusty straw, red fruits - but these are of greater depth than usual. They are balanced against a deep refreshing bitterness - more bitter than usual for the genre, and surprisingly bitter for a Scottish ale. All in all this is a very good example of the genre, but isn’t different enough to stand out.

Cask (Pullman, Helsinki)
Rich amber, decent frothy head. Raw grainy aroma - musky and smoky - even cerealy, and some black tea too. Fairly simple bitter taste, good bitter hops. Fairly refreshing. Malts are quite grainy, husky and approaching sour. Reasonably long finish.
