framebender (56), Boulder, Colorado, USA May 2, 2006 Really really bad. I can only stand to drink it out of the can, if you pour into glass it has strong stale vegetable aroma that makes flavor even worse. If you need a cheap beer go with Strohs over this stuff. jackamackson (127), USA Apr 7, 2006 straw pour with white head. sort of sweet smelling. corny tasting, no bitterness, pretty watery. not so bad to wash down my barbecue chicken and mac with. roner77 (35), Portland, Oregon, USA Apr 1, 2006 NOt bad while cold, but watch out when this one warms. Turned into a truly gross flavor. Typical corn rice chem taste but easy to slam. Not a bad cheapie. dp (512), uniontown, Ohio, USA Mar 27, 2006 I remembered this much worse than today. I had it in the can years ago, bottle today. A slight caramel taste, easy to drink, not the worst out there. Beerman6686 (1264), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 25, 2006 I’ve had worse but not very good at all. Although, I love the burgh im not a big supporter of this one, i’de much rather drink an I.C. Light imbiberAZ (21), USA Mar 12, 2006 Light but overwhelmingly "something." Some hops, corn, chemicals. Doesn’t finish or taste clean. Hard to get down.
But it’s local and its legend.
And it has a mystique.
I’ve visited Pittsburgh many times and most tavern-goers are very loyal to it. If you are drinking it in that great city it tastes like mother’s milk. gilvanblight (390), Windsor, Ontario, Canada Mar 5, 2006 Clear golden pour with a touch of red, large lasting head. Hops and slight sweetness in the scent. More taste then expected but still grainy and watery. An average generic ’beer’ hopmalt (15), syracuse, New York, USA Mar 1, 2006 three quarts for a buck, 1963 "heaven" the aroma was stale, you could gag it down, and as far as the appearance went you never saw the stuff because, as everyone knew you had to drink it out of the bottle. i can’t buy it here but if i could i wouldn’t.
