Very True. Iron City for me is sort of like Blatz. Watery corn beer with a sour aftertaste and nothing positive other than the kitchiness of it all. tjthresh (1765), Greenfield, Indiana, USA

Had a caramelly flavor that I thought was actually a nice change for pale lager. If you are swilling. Iron City will do in a pinch. Has sort of a cult following for the transplanted Pittsburgers here in KC. I’d choose it over some. Sampled two this evening.
Not bad but not good.
Heavy carbonation - tough aftertaste. A beer that you need to keep drinking to mask the aftertaste.
Puts me in mind of Blatz Beer from the late 1970’s so I guess there is a nostalgia factor - if you want to reflect back on drinking in the woods. TheBeerOrg (1569), Kentucky, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Jan 19, 2006 Pours light clear golden with a fully receding white head. Aroma of corn, cereal malts, cider, DMS. Taste is bland, mostly unoffensive, still bad. Mouthfeel is thin and watery. Ok, yes Iron City holds no great complexity nor does it leave much on the palate. But, this is the beer that I think of in its simplest terms as if were served in a white can with black font that just had "BEER" written on it. The taste of the beer is what I think Homer Simpson tastes when he puts backa Duff and the reason all those people are smiling in marco beer commercials. Sorry, that was a bit overly sentimental...but us yinzers have an extraordinary amount of pride for things from our city...even if that happens to be crap beer. | 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Jan 13, 2006 Aluminum bottle. Light golden color, looks thin and watery, head dissapated quickly until it all pretty much disappeared. Weak aroma, almost non-existant. Taste isn’t overly offensive, but also offers nothing of value either. Body is very thin, with some carbonation; it reminded me more of drinking mineral/sparkling water. On the plus side, the bottle has a picture of 2005 Hall of Famer Dan Marino, so I can only assume drinking this beer will allow me to accomplish his Herculean feats. Otherwise, this is just bad.
