Now wasn’t that funny? The pour has a fizzled out head with no retention nor lacing. It looks straw into the glass. The nose is a "spot on" trio of corn, skunks and burning tires. The flavors have lots of cheap sweetness, reminiscent of American Macro swill, with a touch of something that tries to make the hops build a more well-rounded brew. The finish doesn’t really exist, the body is sparse, the mouthfeel is watery with no texture. If anything separates this from a cheap macro, it’s by a thin margin. This is quite honestly a marketing ploy..... in the "cool" insulated metal bottles. Oh yeah, remember my joke at your next party. steview (902), Los Angeles, California, USA

I might have shotgunned this one, as I have the tendency to do that to pale lagers. I’m sure this tasted just like the rest of them out there, but it went down so fast, and so cold, that I can’t really remember. I’m just writing this to get the tick and it was in my book. drpimento (883), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 4, 2005 pours with a nice head, a little lace, nose is sweet, beery, a hint of hop, and some corn. Flavor is about what you’d expect. Better than the average for a micro, although I’d prefer a little less sweetness and a bit more hop. The one I’m drinking now is from a 12 oz can, which I picked up at the Bodega. I think all they have is stock on hand and not much left. Numenor (869), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Ok, yes Iron City holds no great complexity nor does it leave much on the palate. But, this is the beer that I think of in its simplest terms as if were served in a white can with black font that just had "BEER" written on it. The taste of the beer is what I think Homer Simpson tastes when he puts backa Duff and the reason all those people are smiling in marco beer commercials. Sorry, that was a bit overly sentimental...but us yinzers have an extraordinary amount of pride for things from our city...even if that happens to be crap beer.
