Lo and behold, they actually started bringing this to Dallas in the past month or so. I had the aluminum bottle, and I love the design; there are touches in the bottle that are both "throwback" and "modern" in styling, very attractive. The beer itself is a vivid yellow but otherwise unremarkable in appearance. The aroma and flavor are both adjunct-laden, sweet with some corn and a fair dose of spaghetti bolognese (verily, I say), but I would also say this: it was clean in the sense that it wasn’t light-affected. I gave credit to the aluminum bottle and this is something I’d like to see more of in the future (I’ve had a few others, as well, and it is one of those convention-challenging moves that I like...it doesn’t come out metallic and it actually helps the beer. This was a particularly fresh bottle as well, of course.) kyzr (1127), Belgrade, Montana, USA

Typical usa mass produced brew. Easy to drink and open another! TaktikMTL (2786), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada

It's not a great beer, but certainly more interesting than any of the mass produced lagers. I generally wouldn't purchase it at anything but a game in the 'Burgh for nostalgia's sake, but certainly before Bud, Bud Lite or Miller Lite. ukntcme (20), Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | May 13, 2004 I like stouts and ales. Lagers are cheap and thats how they taste thin and cheap. But I prefer Iron to Bud and the other lagers in the same price point. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 4, 2005 I hadn’t tried an "IC" since I used to make the Pirates games in the 70s ( mostly for the tail-gaters and bars). Iron City was everywhere in those days..hard to find a corner pub in the Penn state where either this or Rolling rock wasn’t on tap.
This new packaging may be an attempt to revive sales and position IC for national distribution. It is one of the better American Macros.
Poured a crystal clear gold with a smallish rocky cap that vanishes quickly to a small ring and light lace. Moderate carbonation is welcome in these macro pale adjunct lagers. Nose picks up a strong, grainy, boiled husk aroma and vegital adjuct smells with olfactions of dextrin sweetness. Mouth feel rather watery, distinct grainy husk/corn grit tastes ...sweet, mealy but thin on malt...light dry finish with the green, dry burn you get with rice in a beer. The hops are non distinct in the falvor profile until the finish where they appear as a light citrus note.
Good stuff to wash your teeth with watching a live sports event but you’d have to be a real tar to actually buy it to enjoy at a pub or at home.
