This beer pours off amber with a minmal head. It is a classic that has lost its way or has it. I had no complaints and for the price....good for over indudging!

Golden yellow color with almost no white head. Malty aroma. Malty taste with a metallic finish. Tastes like a frat party.

Iron city is a good, cheap lager. It certainly isn’t premium by any standard. I have had this beer from a tap, from an aluminum can, a glass bottle, a steel can, an aluminum/glass-lined bottle. The taste of the beer fluctuates considerably based on it’s container type and relative temperature. I have always found the canned beers to be excessively bitter. However from the tap this beer goes down smooth with no real surprises. It is basically a getting drunk watching the Steelers type beer. If you want to try a beer in Pittsburgh and only have one to choose, go for a Stoney’s for flavor, go for an IC for tradition and nostalgia.

Pours light copper from the bottle with minimal head and no lacing. Aroma is minimal, not offensive. Palate is O.K., similar to mainstream macros. Flavor is like Coors regular on steriods. Maybe a touch of MGD dumped in for the bitterness. Very unique brew for a macro competitor. If you happen across some give it a try. It has a metallic overtone to it also. Can’t decide if that is good or bad. It has a slighty dry, bitter finish. Not bad for an American traditional Lager.

I drank alot of this stuff when I lived in Pittsburgh. Pretty much a terrible beer with a cult like following. But still, when you understand that it’s a true lager, you start to understand that it’s not all that bad. One notch above other mass produced flagship beers.
