Growler at RBSG 2006. Cloudy gold. Aroma instantly smacks of lemon tartness and grains/wheat. Some big yeasty notes as well. Taste is grainy and yeasty with slight lemon tartness throughout. Body is light, crisp, dry towards the end but with some astringentness to it. Finishes with more grainy or wheaty flavors, yeast and lemon tartness.

Growler at RBSG ’06. Pale yellow color with a small white head. Tart, lemony aroma that reminded me somewhat of vomit. Mildly tart flavor with some lemon and wheat. Tasted better than it smelled, but only by a hair.

RBSG 2006 - Grand Tasting. Clear lemon-yellow body with a clean white head. Aroma of fresh wheat, old fruit, lemon drops, and a tart lactic quality. Very wheaty and fairly clean tasting with some quenching acidity that is a little on the weak side, plus some light residual sweetness. A nice summer beer and decent rendition of the style. Nicely timed for comparison purposes, in that I drank a Berliner Kindl Weisse less than 24 hours prior. I prefer the Kindl Weisse by a hair.

This functioned as a good palate cleanser during the RBSG 2006. It was much like the lemon sorbet that you will sometimes get at a restaurant between courses. This is both a good and bad thing. Pale straw with a white head. Sour lemon, with some earthy nuttiness. The flavor is was extremely close to a tart lemon sorbet. Maybe a tad one-dimensional but it worked, as a palate cleanser.

Beer #18 RBSG 06. Growler. Pale yellow, very slight head. Honestly, I thought it smelled like a baby diaper. In some beers, I dig that aroma. In this one, not so much. Luckily, this didn’t carry over into the flavor. Flavor was lightly of wheat, and some lemon tinged sourness. Just so-so, but happy to try another from this style.
