I THOUGHT IT WAS AN ODD COBO AND I WAS DYING TO TRY IT. WELL WORTH THE RIDE AND WAIT. HINTS OF VANILLA, CHOCOLATE, ROASTED MALT, AND A SLIGHT OAK TASTE. I LOVED IT SO MUCH I BROUGHT HOME A GROWLER. AT 25$ IT WAS STILL WELL WORTH IT.

Bourbon whiskey, oak, and vanilla ... more vanilla than the oak alone would provide. Small head, almost black, nose of bourbon and dark roasted malts. Taste of chocolate from the malt, bourbon, sweet vanilla. Almost no head, not a huge mouthfeel. Good stuff.

Draft, at Iron Hill Wilmington 2/27/09. Pours deep black, capped with a large brown head. Aroma of chocolate malt, bourbon, and coffee. Flavor begins with dark chocolate, which is nicely complimented by wood, vanilla, bourbon and dark fruit, with some charcoal coming in towards the finish. Chocolate and bourbon linger on the palate. Nice effort from IH.

Draft at P-ville. Pours black with off-tan head. Nose is dark malt, bourbon, chocolate, molasses, figs. Hefty body, but as hefty as the regular version, with a pronounced bourbon flavor backed up by a solid dark malt bill, plus some chocolate, earthy peaty notes, figs, and molasses. Very solid beer.

On nitro tap at the Wilmington location. Pours black with a small tan nitro head. Aroma of bourbon, rich roasted malt, and lots of chocolate. Flavor is mostly bourbon with a Hershey’s syrup finish. I tried to enjoy this, but the bourbon was a bit overwhelming. 6/4/6/3/13 (3.2/5)
