| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 17, 2006 Draft, followed up by a growler which I am now drinking. This one poured deep black with dark brown edges and a tan head. The aroma was intense, with big roasty malt and dark chocolate syrup. The palate is dense and complex, and the flavor is roasty malty, with some vinous fruit notes, backed up by a mid and end palate of dark choclate, hazelnuts, and slight anise. Very complex, and a marvelous companion to a maduro cigar. As the self-proclaimed king of Scwarzbiers on this site, I proclaim this one pathetically underrated. egajdzis (3629), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2009 GABF 09. Pours a deep clear woody brown almost black- nice light beige head. Aroma is nutty, herbal, modest roast, choocolate and coffee, some black malt acrid- and burnt notes, toffee and light sweetness.
