On tap at Newark: Dark in color. Aroma was some what fruity. Taste was nice sweet maltiness along with a hint of fruit. Low carbonation. Over all not a bad beer. I would get it again.

I only had this from a sampler, so I didn’t quite pick up all the subtleties noted in the other reviews...but did notice a light banana flavor and a lot of other flavors going on in this one. This was a nice bavarian wheat beer...but nothing to make it stand out among the other I’ve had (in fact, in my unrefined opinion, just about all the beers of this style taste almost the same anyway).

Draught in Newark. Bubblegum, wheat, cloves, slight dark malt. Cloudy amber brown appearance. Murky bubblegum, wheat, dark malt in the taste…muddy feel. Chalky smooth coating. Overall, about what is to be expected of the style (and I’m not a fan).

After being greatly disappointed by Iron Hill’s hefeweizen, I was surprised to find this variant among the better beers I’ve had. Unlike its lighter cousin, this one was very balanced, the flavours blended very well. There was a rich wheat flavour, a lot of fruitiness--definitely feeling the bananas--but this aspect blended with the other flavours well. There was no sourness, which I was very happy about. There is a lot of body and substance to this beer as well, and I liked that. This one totally wins in my book; I can say it’s the best brew I’ve had from Iron Hill so far.

Poured a cloudy and brownish yellow color with a small head that dissipated while drinking. Lacing was consistent throughout. Aroma was nutty, wheaty, and slightly fruity (maybe bananas). True to the Bavarian style of wheats. Sweet malty taste behind the wheat base. Enjoyable, but nothing to write home about.

Poured a murky brown body with a bubbly beige head. Aroma is bananas with a hint of citrus. Flavors were mostly bananas with some yeast, raisin, and citrus flavors. I’ve been really liking this style lately.

Tap @ Iron Hill Newark. Cloudy amber/tan. Nice beige head that could have lasted longer. Some lace. Aroma is of yeast, a bit of fruit/green apple, light hops, and the clovey essence. Flavor is clovey, yeasty, sour, dry, lightly hopped, with a moderate grain/malt background. Pushing med bodied. The clove tasting weitzen aren’t a style much to my liking but thought I’d give it a try.....after reading TAR’s rate: Yes, chalky on the palate for me too.

Newark. Pours a cloudy, dull brown with a lively tan head. Aroma of doughy malts and a hint of citrus. Flavor is much like a hefe; lots of banana and clove spiciness as well as some lemony zest. Nice one for a warm day.
