beastiefan2k (1172), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Oct 16, 2008 GABF’08. One of the best beers of the fest for me. Pours with a murky copper color. Aroma is very berry-musky and cherries on top of the raspberries coming though (I wonder if they actually used any, rather common in authentic Framboise). There is a lot of very earthy maltiness and good amount of sour in there as well. Taste is less spectacular, not as much fruit and sour coming through but still plenty. Has a long dry finish. Not like Belgian lambics, a lot less acidic, less "refreshing." more of a thicker brew.
bu11zeye (3887), Frisco, Texas, USA Nov 18, 2008 (Draught) Pours a murky reddish-brown (dirty water) with a small off-white head. Aroma of earthiness, raspberries, and mustiness. Flavor of raspberry, earth, some sugary candish qualities, and light plastic with a dry oak finish. BDR (1960), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Oct 16, 2008 GABF 2008. A murky brown pour with faint head. Tart brown sugar aroma with faint watery raspberry that was nonetheless satisfyingly sour. The body was solid framboise with a sweet tart edge, but not really sour enough to satisfy my craving. Still a very good beer. acrdz (4475), Boulder, Colorado, USA Oct 12, 2008 Updated: Oct 13, 20082008 GABF. Labeled "Framboise de Hill" but poured by Iron Hill Media, rating can go here for now and may be moved when more info is gathered, but I’m going on the name. Cloudy soft dark red/brown colored body with a small film of a head. Awesomely real raspberry fruit nose, seedy, pitty, wood-heavy, very natural and tart... medium acidity, prickly, tannic, dry, tart... creamy texture, abrasive, full, sticky and chewy... frothy and full on the palate. Excellent stuff.
