eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Apr 23, 2009 On draft at the Newark location. Pour was hazy to cloudy straw colored with a nice head and solid lacing all the way down. The aroma was wheaty with some yeast and smokiness. The flavor followed, definite wheat base, firm smoke support, yet not overpowering, yeast in the finish along with what seemed to me to be a rye bite, although the bartender said she was not aware of rye being in it. Standard hefeweizen fruity esters were highly subdued, near nil, an interesting brew. Full bodied, hearty, refreshing drink. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 14, 2009 Draft @ Newark. Golden-amber color with a nice sweet & smoky aroma that features citrus and meat. Flavor has a nice interplay between meaty/smoky flavors and sweet/citrusy ones. Nice mouthfeel. Overall a really cool Iron Hill beer that they need to get out to the other locales! StFun (535), Indiana, USA Apr 2, 2009 Growler thanks to Gabe the Man. Pours a light, fizzy looking creamy dark yellow. Not much of a head, but some good lacing. Aroma is a tad weak, grass and just a touch of smoke, but a nice meaty/malty backnone that carries over into the flavor. Flavor is like a nice, smoley hotdog. An acidic tartness that brought down my palate score. Overall, this is a nice, thin, sessionable smoke beer. Not big and bold, but very nice in it how it subtly combines its aspects together. Nice. Miver (551), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 26, 2009 Draft in Newark. Poured into a mug with a frothy bright white head. Aroma of smoked malts. Tastes of smoked malts, light sweet fruit (oranges), lightly tart with a nice smoked dry finish. Very drinkable, in fact I had 2 mugs of this. I could have drank this all night. I regret not grabbing a growler. Gotta love a smoked Pol. GMCC2181 (845), Bear, Delaware, USA Mar 22, 2009 Draft at the newark location. Poured into a lager glass. Nice head. Weak aroma of some light smokiness. Taste is intially just some light malt taste, hint of orange and some earthy notes. The aftertaste has a nice smokiness to it. Dry as well, nothing lingers around. Wouldnt of guessed it but a nice smoke beer...not overdone at all. The texture is a little on the lighter side but not watery, easy to drink. Overall a solid beer, that was very enjoyable
