The nose is tart and acidic, sour grapes, vinous, phenolic. The flavor is at first very tart and sour but then develops a very distinct popcorn jellybean flavor. Tart and acidic mouthfeel.
hopdog (4749), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 12, 2008 On tap at the West Chester location. Poured a medium and cloudy golden color with a small sized head. Aromas of citrus, fruity, earthy, barnyard, musty, brett, and bananas. Tastes of lemons, brett, oaky, funky, and apples. Lightly tart and refreshing. TomDecapolis (2508), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 11, 2008 On tap at IH West Chester for the 08 MUG Club night. Pours a hazy golden/orange with a medium off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of brett, cereal grains, grapes, citrus notes, fruity, barnyard, touch of vanilla and floral. Flavor was a nice match of the same with some cereal/malty notes present, but the brett was there and complimented this golden ale nicely. Really nice Belgian Golden ale that showcased what brett can really add to a brew! Well done. argo0 (6263), Washington DC, USA Aug 10, 2008 (BCTC, draft) Cloudy lemon-yellow body with minimal white head. Aroma is medium sweet, sour/lemon, some funk. Taste is medium sweet, lemon, dusky, some sourness. Acidic medium body, light creaminess. puzzl (1894), New York, New York, USA Aug 4, 2008 Tap at BCTC. This one didn’t do it for me. Funkhouse aroma is light but defined. Little complexity. A touch of grape in the flavor quickly degrades into toasted malts and then ugly, acrid mud. The finish is so bad that it completely destroys an otherwise fine beer. I guess this is the kind of beer you have to chug in order to minimize exposure to the finish :) ucusty (1234), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jul 21, 2008 Carolina Crew Gathering Greenville, NC. Thanks to Ryan for sharing this! Hazy pale color with a fizzy white head. Sour grape aroma. Very acidic up front with slight buttery finish.
