| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2009 750 ml bottle, shared by beastiefan2k. Pour is a hazed / cloudy golden orange with a smallish head. Not too much lacing. Aroma of tangerine sour, some maltiness behind that. Also some tart apple in there. Taste is really bright sourness, tangerine citrus, and puckering tartness. Very acetic - I suppose that should come as no surprise since this is an unblended Lambic, but it still was a bit too rough and tumble for my tastes. Palate is actually pretty smooth, despite how aggressive the sourness was in the taste. Thanks for sharing Eugene! mreusch (736), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2009 750ml bottle, with thanks to beastiefan2k. Pours a cloudy brown gold, with a moderate off-white head. Aroma is sourish and tart, with sour apple and grape, light funk and oak, and fairly acidic. Flavor is more acidic, which is distracting from everything else going on, but there is some sour apple and grape, funk and citrus also there. Interesting, but the acidity is a bit overwhelming. Thanks again Eugene! daknole (2971), Plantation, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 29, 2009 DLD sample. Yellow/gold pour. small white head. Vinegar, lemons, funk, earth, grass. Flavor is pretty damn sour. Too much vinegar notes for me. Just too sour to enjoy the underlying notes of the beer. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Apr 15, 2009 I must say that I would stack this and the IH Cassis against any foreign contenders, so I see these as being rated hugely low. I had this in a sampler with the cassis, and the pour was turbid gold greenish with off-white head and a tart fruity sour mashy nose. The flavor was iontense sour mashy malt without the cassis fruit but with teh earthy gueuzey flavor profile of a great gueuze. Smooth, tart palate. For Gods’ sake, people, lambiocs are supposed to be acetic/tart. You should downgrade them if they weren’t, not if they are, you donkeys!!! TURDFERGUSON (1603), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 23, 2009 Man, were these a disappointment. I mean I guess I can’t be too disappointed since more and more American breweries are at least attempting to brew beers in my favorite style, but damn were these a letdown considering the initial hype. But I guess that’s what I get. Every single one of these IH lambics had this acetic acid house character that I almost found unbearable. Its ironic because that same character is usually what I look for in a lambic, but these are just so over the top it makes it no longer an enjoyable sensation/ flavor. Its on the right track but still missing some key elements to hold it all together. This is probably the most difficult lambic style to pull off well since it is unblended and cannot hide any flaws. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 20, 2009 Sort of honey colored with almost no head. Suprisingly cheesy with some big funky fruit. This one really does go over the top with the funkiness and the slight band-aid finish is unfortunate but it’s really not that bad. ucusty (1896), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Thanks to Ethan for sharing this one. Almost clear dark gold pour. Musty dank basement aroma. Nice acidic flavor, but the finish was unbecoming; chalked full of band aid and vinegar phenols. durhambeer (1217), Durham, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Emacgee provided the goods here. This was a divisive one for the Carolina Crew, but I was into it. It was almost like a concentrated parody of a lambic.... big and quite acetic. Tart vinegar and old sour leather. Funky socks and some cheesiness and band-aids that some folks didn’t take kindly to. Tasted better than it smelled. I likes the funk.
