The aroma is sweet nutty combined with notes of caramel. The flavor is dry and roasted with notes of caramel and a hoppy bitter finish. I like the hoppyness compared to German Dunkles. Another winner from my 2nd best sampler ever (2nd only to Victory’s massive 16 six-ouncers that I had over the summer.....which incidentally Victory gave me a hard time about ordering the next time I tried to order it...bastards.) At any rate, this one pours deep brown with ruby edges. Great aroma of malt, cabernet, nuts, and chocoff. Tastes bold, firm, with chocoff, some nuts, toffee, and corn flakes at the finish. This beer kicks ass and takes names. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
