More like a barleywine than an old ale. Sweet malt aroma that fits, but absent any alcohol. Sugar in the flavor, light fruit. A little too sweet for the style. Dark brown and very low carbonation.

(2005 bottle from someone.)dark clear red body with a thick light brown head that leaves no lacing or webbing as it rests.the first two things i pick up in the aroma or alcohol,and oxidation.its then followed with caramel,brown sugar,green apples,and figs.flavor is alcohol,card board,figs,smoke,caramel,and seltzer water.honestly the alcohol is way to overpowering for a 7.2 beer.and i feel the oxidation has really hides what could be a really great beer.maybe its just past its prime.

2004 Bottle: Pours a dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma, caramel, brown sugar, some fruits. Flavor, caramel, some apple, prunes and a faint alcohol. Some floral and fruity hops towards the end.

750ml bottle 2004 vintage via trade with Hopdog! - Thanks Steve! - Poured dark amber with a short offwhite head and lots of lace. Aromas of caramel mostly with some slight pine and maybe a touch of alcohol. Flavor is lots of caramel as well, some toffee notes in there too and toasted malts. Slight hops at the finish as well. Good sweet sticky mouthfeel and medium body with a slight bitterness on the finish. Nice brew.

2004 holiday vintage. Huge caramalization on the nose. Very smooth and velvety texture in the body. The caramalization just clings to your palate for dear life well after the finish. Strong notes of vanilla, brown sugar and creme Brulee.

Pours a hazy brown color, off white head. Aroma is vodka and grain alcohol. Flavor is sweet and boozy some port and brandy notes to it. A bit of spice... ehh...n ot getting it.

2005. Slightly hazy, deep orange/amber body. Thin, light beige head, moderate retention. Thin lacing. Aroma is of fruit galore! Caramel malt is plentiful as well. So vibrant and lively. Malt and oaky notes in a happy marriage. Some toasted grains are noted. A slight cereal graininess is pleasing. Flavor is massive fruit again, fun and so focused. Super tasty. Peaches appear first and foremost, then tangerine and apricot, some dates too. Though sweet, even for the style, an excellent sense of balance is here. Finishes semi-sweet and somewhat balanced. Mouthfeel is full bodied and creamy. Very good.

Bottle... Murky, caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. The aroma is of caramel, toffee, red apple and pear. Big, bold, crystal/caramel malt backbone balanced by earthy, minerally hops. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. Very Scotch Ale-like to me. State Fair-caramel apple finish. boboski, boboski, he’s our man, if he can’t do it, no one can!
