Dec 5, 2009 Bottle courtesy of JKwalking05. Clear red pour. Sweet bread aroma. Light cereal smell as well. Taste is thick sweet with bready malt. No dark fruit which surprises me but it’s not rough.

Mar 28, 2009 Thanks IBrew2or3 for the share. Pours brown with a tan head. Nose is malt, caramel, grapes, sugar, floral hops, citrus hops, apricot, toffee, and some bitterness. Flavor is much the same- malt, citrus, apricot, and sweetness. Medium mouthfeel to this hoppy and likeable BW.

Mar 23, 2009 Updated: Mar 25, 2009750ml bottle. Pours a cloudy deep orange amber. Malty and fruity aroma. Really wonderful flavor profile: not overbearingly dark malt, but with a beautifully balanced, sweet, elegant, citrusy affect. Love it. This has a fruitcake-like quality to it, and a definite caramel-cherry presence. Bubblegum. The Iron Hill bottles are so freakin’ good. The balance and sweet nuance of this is just awesome.

Feb 21, 2009 750ml Bottle: Sweet aroma of malts, caramel, dark ripe fruit, honey, toffee, slight orange, slight fruit, figs, plums, slight yeast, and maple syrup. Poured brown with a bit of amber in color and medium-sized, beige head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Opaque. Sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet and slightly bitter. Tastes of malts, caramel, honey, toffee, slight chocolate, light wood, oak, light vanilla, and figs. Full body. Thick, tingly, syrupy, coating texture. Average to lively carbonation. Sweet, malty, caramel, wood, and vanilla finish is sticky and dry. 10%ABV is totally hidden.

Jan 2, 2009 Big thanks to GMCC2181 for sending this one my way. Had this the same night as a bunch of rare beers, and this stood up to the big boys. Nice and subtle, but complex. Aroma is malt and yeast, with maybe even notes of nuts. Flavor is malt and hops; not too big, but full of character. Not too hot, not too watery. A fantastic session barleywine, and a nice representation of the style. Thanks again Gabe!
