Iron Hill Pig Iron Porter

This was excellent for a porter. Growler from Maple Shade. Poured black with a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, and and hint of roasted coffee. Big chocolate flavor upfront. Transformed into a roasted feel in the finish. Crisp finish.

From the Jug at the GABF Colorado Convention Center, Denver 09/10/2008 Fruity and slightly rich aroma. Dark coloured and smooth on the palate with some bitterness in a crisp and dry burnt roast finish.

On tap at Iron Hill’s Maple Shade location. Pours a pitch black with a creamy tan head. Looks amazing at first glance. Great aroma of coffee and roasted malts. Taste is similar to the aroma-coffe, malts, maybe a bit of vanilla.

On tap at Iron Hill in Media, PA (05/26/09). Dark brown with a decent beige head. Aroma is roasted malts and coffee. Taste is of chocolate, coffee, cocoa, and roasted malts.

Deep brown pour. No head. Coffee aroma. Light bitterness at the beginning. Thin body with only a bit of coffee and burnt sugar.

On draft at the Brewpub in Maple Shade (?), NJ. Pours a dark blackish brown body. Aroma is roasty and meaty. Taste is bitter roast, bacon, and meat.

Tap at Westchester location. Pours black with a 2 finger tan head. Nose is sweet, rich and chocolate. Taste is chocolate, bitter and nice.

Pours a very dark brown with a very small tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts. Medium to light bodied with a slightly sweet flavor with a dominant flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, and a hint of caramel. Overall a decent porter.
