RIght now, I am thinking of beers with a good malt taste (since this North Coast Old Stock Ale I am drinking right now is truly dynamite). Here is one that comes to mind, there’s definitely dark flavors, with a smooth body, and nice finishing kick. This is one of the four selections I would choose from quite frequently at Iron Hill. A good choice.

For a style I’m not partial to I’ve had a few darn good porters lately. This one has a wonderfully creamy mouthfeel and a great balance. A slight sourness keeps it quite quaffable.

This is a top-notch porter! Very dark in color with a chunky brown head. Aroma of bitter bakers chocolate and some coffee notes. Flavor more of the same, rich and creamy going down with a dry, bitter bite at the end.

Near opaque with a hint of red at the edge. Coffee, anise and roasted malt aroma. Nicely carbonated with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Good, hoppy balance adds a bit of an edge that keeps it from getting to sweet. Taste reflects the malts used (roasted, chocolate). Dry, moderately bitter finish.

Dark cola. Lightly roasty, bit of nicotine smoke. Flavor is roasty and a bit tart. Quite drinkable. Dry with a bit of molasses, decent hoppiness.
