Enjoyed at the State Line Best of the Americans tasting on 7/16/04 Small tan/light brown head, short lived. Almost black, reddish brown highlights. Good chocolate, lightly roasty nose. Medium body. Good roast flavors, coffee, black malt and chocolate flavors. Finish is dry, roasty. Tastey brew.

Mild, bittersweet chocolate, tastes like weak coffee with little sweetness and no tang or hoppy bite. Mediocre.

Black in color with a small tan head. Aromas of coffee and chocolate. Nice sweet and bitter balance. Decent porter. Update: I also had the Aged in Oak Barrel Version at the Kennett Square Festival. This version was nicer than the plain version.

Media, PA... Poured a dark reddish brown color with a small tan head, but really no lacing. Aroma of chocolate, and roasted malt and coffee. Roasted coffee taste also included some chocolate cream and a hint of smoke.

A complex, delicious porter that has very slight rauchbier characteristics. The color is rich dark blackish-amber. It imparts tastes of chocolate, slight black licorice, coffee, and that very slight roasty/smoky flavor. Worth seeking out, although Iron Hill doesn't bottle yet, to my knowledge. A great porter.

It was nice but has not anything to get excited about. Would I drink another, sure. Would I go out of my way for one, no.

A very nice porter. Dark with a wee bit of light showing through. Very roasty. Not as bitter as most porters, and missing a certain deep wine quality. Very easy to enjoy, however. A good session porter. Not holing the chocolate/coffee notes as strongly as other porters.

On tap at brewery in Delaware: Nearly black color, with red tones. Little head, leaving laces. Malt and chocolate nose. Light malty taste. Not exciting.
