Pours a very dark brown with a very small tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts. Medium to light bodied with a slightly sweet flavor with a dominant flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, and a hint of caramel. Overall a decent porter.

(Rating #2249)

Draft at the Willmington location. Poured a dark brown with an average size light beige head. Aroma was roasty with some chocolate notes and a touch of sweetness. Medium to slightly thin bodied with average carbonation. Flavor was chocolatey but with some milky lactose notes that Im still unsure of if I liked it or not. I could go either way with this beer so I should probably try it another dozen or so times to solidify my opinion of it.

Cask at Wilmington. Aroma of [some qualifying term I can’t read but probably means lots of] coffee, smoke, dates, cherries. Flavor of leafy hops and cocoa powder, particularly at the finish. Pretty good.

On cask at the Wilmington location. Pours black with a thick tan head that slowly fades. Aroma of rich roasted malt and cocoa powder. Flavor of chalky chocolate, roasted malt. Smooth and good, although the palate weakens with warmth. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

On tap at Newark and Wilmington brewery. Poured a deep dark brown color. It had a good creamy head that lasted. The smell was roasted malt. The taste upfront is very chocolately followed by black coffee. This beer was well balanced and nicely rich.
