| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 23, 2008 Growler from Jason, many thanks and served in my big Tripel Karmeliet glass:
Pours deep murky brown (nearly opaque) with a small tan head and left very good lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of heavy roasted and chocolate malt, hint of smoke and leather, herbal hops, fig and prune esters, and a touch of coffee vapours.
The taste starts with a nice combination of sweet malts and twangy fruits over a layer of bakers chocolate. This is supported on the finish by some coffee and hop bitterness with a hint of charred wood too. Slight lactic sourness after it warms, SLIGHT. The mouth feel is sprite and quite refreshing, medium-bodied and a easy drinker. HOW EASY U ASK? If just emptied the growler in less than 2 hours minus a 22 hand bottle (= 42 ounces of beer).
All in all a solid offering for the genre, in fact above average for an American made porter. Darker than most and more viscus on the palate. I bet this would rock on hand-pull. Really nice to try and it appears to on tap at this moment. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 9, 2007 Draught at the pub. Opaque dark brown, light shows at the edges. Light brown head that laces the glass. Typical mild porter aroma. A solid porter with a chocolatey sweetness and a roast finish with a lingering smokiness. A bit light, but creamy.
